Micro 3D printers have become huge for small scale designers, giving them the option to design and produce products of their own with out a middle man. The experience of being able to design and watch your product be printed, gives you advantages to see what may and may not work in your product. They also save you a lot of time and can create some pretty awesome things. I plan on buying one myself by the time I'm In grad school.
